As much as enjoy seeing a good joyride of hyperbolic misrepresentation, I think you mistook my point regarding empathy, if you will allow me to try again. My suggestion was that honoring a person's story of personal tragedy with a bit of empathy may help with having your potentially contrary opinion considered in return with an open mind.
