Fantastic, fantastic, *fantastic*. I am passionate about this issue, particularly as a father of boys becoming young men who are already seeing so many confusing messages about manhood. This is the kind of dialogue we need much more of around masculinity. I love that you lead with empathy and advocacy while still calling out the perniciousness of the purveyors of dominance-defined masculinity. I look forward to reading more!
Are you familiar with the work of Charis Denison? I ran across her from last year's article in the Atlantic about boys by Peggy Orenstein. Denison has some wonderfully pithy quotes and observations from her 20-some years of working with teens, especially boys.
