Great topic and I applaud your work here Joe! I do think there are some behavioral problems with porn, especially for young men still figuring out how to conduct themselves behind closed doors. But I agree we are better served in curtailing the urge to pathologize it, especially when, as your research shows, those bearing this label of "porn addict" are strongly correlated to moral conflicts rather than any demonstrable measures of addiction.

Esther Perel writes eloquently on this idea: "Science has replaced religion as the authority; and science is a more formidable arbiter. Medicine knows how to scare even those who scoff at religion. Compared with a diagnosis, what's a mere sin? We used to moralize; today we normalize, and performance anxiety is the secular version of our old religious guilt."
