Hmm, I'm not sure on this. Finding things to hold on to in order to get through a tough time: good advice. To look down on men younger than you as a goal and be resigned to making it a fact of life seems much less so. Socratic rationalism (at least as the primary basis for structuring a society) is arguably much more part of the problem than it is the solution.
