Hmm interesting. I don't disagree exactly; I just think Bill's comment is incomplete. America absolutely does have a cultural problem with glorifying violence. A culture's stories (which includes movies, songs, series, etc.), and not just our laws and ethical frameworks (like religion) influence how we act, what responses we think are appropriate. We seek to emulate the heros in our stories. Their acts of violent "justice" legitimizes our own urge towards violence against those we believe have transgressed against us.
