It's a thoughtful challenge, and I don't disagree with your primary concerns Simonne. The nature of porn and its impact is still worthy of research, which is how I took your comment. I'm completely on board with your concern about early exposure to it and how it can affect formative periods for young men (particularly as a father of boys). And I share your concern about how young people are chewed up by the industry. These are important topics we need to address in the face of the proliferation of pornographic material online (and there are others, such as revenge porn). Where I differ is that these concerns mean it should be labeled as a mental illness in adults (typically by the moralizing sets). I think that badly misses the opportunity for adults to have a conversation about what they can do together to maintain sexual energy in their relationships, which absolutely can be helped by a good sex-positive therapist. And all without laying some stigma of "porn addiction" at the feet of one of the partners. Thank you for considering my response!
