Powerful, powerful piece, Jessica. It has a certain poetic license to it, in other words it reads to me less as cold analysis and more like a song of anger and anguish. It has a bit of the feel of Childish Gambino's "This is America" to it. The dirth of empathy and horror from the ideologues in the responses is pretty sobering too. I don't know how we're going to find the political willpower in this country to shake the gun fetishists back to common sense, and in the meantime the tragedies keep piling up.
