I think Western Culture still largely doesn’t know what to make of sexually powerful women, even — somewhat ironically — when that sexual power is in being submissive (with respect and consent of course). And the corollary: many men are so fragile in their own confidence that bluster and shaming are the typical only responses they can see. You can bank on the fact that the bulk of men who have called a woman “slut” or “whore”, or even have quietly faded away in consternation, are longing for sex with that same sexually expressive woman in that moment but cannot reconcile it with the moralistic dictums of our culture.
