This is wonderfully expressed E.L.! The problem with the “truth” (as in the “true way” of doing anything) is that people tend to wield it like a club. I tend to be wary even of well-meaning folk who try to push overt definitions where they are not necessary, and any relationship conducted openly and honestly among consenting adults is no one else’s business…despite what many of our overly moralistic and legalistic cultures try to insist to the contrary. Your experiences (and wants) dictate your reality, just as another person’s dictates theirs. Nietzsche says it well: “You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way, the correct way, and the only way, it does not exist.” Best wishes from a new follower — and thanks to DJDM for putting your writing on my radar!
